Why the emphasis on traveling people?

Traveling workers are young, older, male, female, and of every nationality. Some are Christian. Many are not. Whether they are professing Christians or not, they face difficulties that can bring them to their knees— difficulties such as problems within the marriage or just the stress of the job. The man of the house might spend days or weeks on the road, leaving the wife to be both mother and father to the children. Stress builds up. Phone calls home end in arguments and anger.

Where does the man turn when this happens? Often, he retreats into a stack of pornographic material, stops by the nearest strip joint, or accepts an offer from whatever prostitute happens to be working the truckstop on that day. He may settle down in his hotel room and spend the evening with an illicit pay-for-view movie. (read more...)

Welcome to ManOnTheRoad.org!

Life on the road isn't always easy....

dangerous road signIn fact it can be downright hard. While you are away the kids get sick, your wife's car breaks down, flights get delayed, etc.. There are heavy schedules to keep, dispatchers to keep happy, bad weather to contend with, and possibly truck payments to make.

People who travel with entertainers can have it tough, as well. The reality of that world is far from the glitz and glamour that is the public's perception. Perhaps there was a truck break-down and the load-in did not go as scheduled or the a/c went out on the bus or the hotel rooms weren't ready when they should have been.

For salesmen, there are difficult customers or that one big account that you just can't seem to close on. For IT professionals, there is the constant availability of a wide open Internet to lure them into places they'd never go at home.

Young people going off to join the military or to start their college experiences are prime targets for the temptation that so often accompanies young adulthood. Peer pressure, lowered social standards, and the idea that anything is okay if it feels good all contribute to a breakdown in the moral fiber of these young people. There is that natural tendancy to stretch out and test their perception of manhood, even before they know what it means to be a real man.

For anyone who travels for a living, there is the issue of loneliness which can contribute to...

  • sexual temptation
  • infidelity
  • pornography use and abuse

So where does Man On The Road come in?

We know from personal experience that one of the greatest dangers facing people who earn their livings on the road is the danger of being alone, sometimes even in a crowd. We know first-hand how bit by bit a person's integrity - what we are when no one is looking - can be damaged. For most people who work on the road, there is no accountability source. This is especially true of young people just going off to college or into the military.

Our one goal is to help you live a life of honor, integrity, and purity on the road. As you browse this site, you will see that a great deal of focus is placed on the issue of moral integrity, especially in connection with the use of pornography and the practice of infidelity. Pornography has the ability to kill marriages, finances, jobs, and more when one becomes addicted to it. We want to prevent that happening if we can.

We hope you'll take advantage of our resources, including books, cassette tapes, cds, and more. You can do so through our Bookstore page. Donations can be made through our donations page.
